This piece of program will help set up filtering rules for messages coming into MS Exchange server and small business server 2002/2003.
MAPILab Rules for Exchange is a program for creating and managing Microsoft Exchange Server incoming messages rules. It can be used with the Small Business Server 2000/2003 as well. You should be able to set up more flexible rules as well as more functionality through the rules set up in this software tool. Setting up of the rules is made easier by the wizard interface provided with the program. The interface of the Rules Wizard helps you with the setting up of the rules. Anyone reasonably familiar with the mail system can set up the rules. The first part of the rule set up is defined to be the specific way the mail to be filtered comes into the system. For example, the conditions could be "when messages go to any mailbox" and other conditions.
Second part of the set up is to be specific about what action should be taken for the filtered out item. You then apply a rule for this specific condition and the mails will keep getting routed according to the rules set up. There is no need to mess with scripts etc. Specifying the rules is powerful enough to meet most situations. The system administrator no longer has to spend his time searching for, adjusting, debugging and deploying scripts. The promised usefulness of the program could be substantial. But what results you get would possibly depend on what your special circumstances is. So, the best method would be to try it out in your message flow and see for yourself. This is a handy tool.
